Local Weather
The Gulf Coast, also known as "The Paradise Coast" spans from Fort Myers and The Everglades. It is aptly nicknamed because of the subtropical climate that provides warming temperatures year round, balmy tropical breezes, and sun filled skies with the occasional thunderstorm. Referred to by locals as a Mediterranean-type climate, the Southwest region has long summers and pleasingly mild dry winters. A majority of the rain occurs between the months of June through September. Although brief, showers and thunderstorms are sometimes heavy and within moments the sun returns. Winters are typically nothing short of wonderful with ideal daytime temperatures and refreshingly cool evenings. The cautionary hurricane season in Florida predictably occurs late in August straight through until November. In general, however, the Floridian climate is delightful for beaches, surfing, golfing and a variety of other activities that make Florida famous for vacationers.
